Dispersed Oil Research Forum
The Coastal Response Research Center (CRRC) and the Dispersants Working Group (DWG) hosted a Dispersed Oil Research Forum on February 1 and 2, 2007 in Red Bank, NJ. Over 100 participants attended the Forum. The Forum consisted of half-hour presentations on dispersant-related research conducted since the May 2005 release of the National Research Council's Report entitled "Understanding Oil Spill Dispersants: Efficacy and Effects". The forum ended with a panel discussion informing which research needs had been satisfied and targeting areas for future research. The Forum followed the U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS) Visitor's Day where a cold-water dispersant test occurred on January 31, at the OHMSETT facility held at the nearby U.S. Naval Weapons Station Earle (www.ohmsett.com). By dove-tailing events, both events were will attended and represented by several State contingents from Alaska, California, Texas, Louisiana, New Jersey and New York, by all of the major oil companies, several clean-up contractors, Federal agencies, non-governmental organizations and international participants from Canada, Norway, Sweden, England, and France.
