Develop best practice guidance for coordinated response and management of state and federal fisheries and seafood production following a major oil spill

Scope:  Gulf of Maine

Objectives:  Develop guidance for:

  1. Pre-impact protection strategies (including for the aquaculture industry, a full accounting of the stock at risk; preemptive removal of fishing gear, etc.)
  2. Pre-closure options (safety zone, warnings, etc.)
  3. Closure criteria and predictive methods (trajectory analysis)
  4. Stakeholder communication
  5. Re-opening criteria, protocols, and partnerships
