Tuesday, October 22, 2013 to Wednesday, October 23, 2013
Tallahasee, FL
Goals of workshop
The primary goal is to integrate ongoing studies and develop new ideas and collaborations to promote a comprehensive view of the factors controlling the formation and deposition of oil-associated marine snow and its accumulation as flocculants on the seafloor, in the context of oil and gas release and dispersant application in the marine environment.
- Define processes/framework
- What is spatial and temporal variation of processes
- Manifestation in sedimentary record
- Effects (biological and chemical) of processes and manifestation (and impacts) on ecosystem assessment
- Define research questions for each process in framework
- Identify what is needed for research strategy (i.e., what is and is not being addressed, define gaps and how to address these gaps)
