Northeast Marine Mammal NRDA Workshop

Tuesday, June 7, 2022 to Wednesday, June 8, 2022
10:00 am to 3:00 pm ET (each day)
A Virtual Event

Overview

This workshop will provide the opportunity for NOAA line offices to develop a common understanding of the process, hurdles, and possibilities for injury assessment for marine mammals in the Northeast Region prior to the next oil spill. The workshop will use a spill scenario for participants to use as they develop approaches for NRDA injury assessments. Potential baseline information that might be available, species to address, methodologies, platforms for assessments, and overarching collaboration between the potential NOAA line offices will be identified. The workshop will identify priorities where further pre-spill planning and workplan development could assist in improving marine mammal assessments, particularly for time-sensitive data collection early in an oil spill response and NRDA.
