Value of NOAA Disaster Preparedness Workshop

Due to the curent COVID-19 pandemic, this workshop is being postponed.

This workshop is made possible through the partnership with NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R), Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP) and particularly the Gulf of Mexico Disaster Response Center in cooperation with the Coastal Response Research Center.

Goal:

The primary objective of this meeting will be to:

  • Develop a framework (e.g., methodologies, datasets, metrics) for assessing the value of NOAA preparedness for response to coastal disasters,
  • Estimate the current value of NOAA disaster preparedness considering:
    • Cost/impact of internal NOAA operations, and
    • Cost/impact to coastal community/economy (e.g. consumers of our services, restoration of navigation).
